This document is a community engagement project assessment and stakeholder analysis template published by the City of Banyule. It guides organizations in evaluating the level of community engagement required for a project. The template helps to determine the appropriate engagement approach and sign-off process. This template is designed to help organizations identify and understand the level of interest and impact of their projects on different stakeholder groups.

Organizations can use this template to engage multicultural communities by:

• Identifying and understanding multicultural stakeholders. The template highlights the importance of stakeholder analysis, emphasizing the identification of individuals, groups, or organizations impacted by or interested in the project. This includes considering their motivations, influence, and potential barriers to engagement. Organizations can apply this to multicultural communities by specifically identifying relevant groups and tailoring engagement strategies to their needs and preferences. For example, organizations can identify local multicultural advisory committees and review ABS Census statistics to understand the community’s composition and ensure representation.
• Determining the level of engagement needed for multicultural communities. The template provides a risk rating system based on the project’s impact, stakeholder interest, cost, and potential reputational influence. This helps determine the appropriate level of engagement, from basic information sharing to collaboration and empowerment. Organizations can use this system to assess the level of engagement needed for multicultural communities, recognizing their unique needs and potential barriers. This might involve higher levels of engagement for projects significantly impacting these communities.
